Zia-uddin-Barni, 14th century historian said "If awe and splendor does not impress the heart of common people, administration cannot be upheld properly", Rahul Gandhi seems to have got both in true sense. His 'awe' comes from his surname itself coupled with his hard work and dedication towards the inclusive growth and development of society. And his administrative skills are also very emphatic because before joining politics he worked for Monitor Group and even in politics he began his journey from the grass-root-level.
His elevation to the priministerial candidate is not a meteoric rise but the output of latent hard work he performed over the years. He has complete know-how about the democratic functionality of diverse Indian society. He has gone through the length and breadth of the country to survey its ideology, philosophy and working ethics. In doing so, he has received barrage of criticism from the opponents but very patiently and shrewdly he maneuvered his path in order to display his acumen of statesmanship and leadership.
The post of PM is known to be catering to the wide range of aspirations and interests of common people along with cementing the bilateral relations across the globe smooth and flexible. Considering the present scenario of politics, he fits all the bills. He’s got educated at the universities of Rollins and Cambridge, which sowed a seed of vision in his personality. That seed of vision started germinated when he decided to join politics. Now, it has become a huge tree which can provide a shelter to all irrespective of class, creed and religion.
Intelligence, vision, acumen and patience are the four pillars of success in politics. And, Rahul Gandhi is seemed to possess all except vision to usher a light in the darkness of Indian Politics. If people of India will judge the priministerial candidate on the grounds of pertinent credentials, he deserves a chance.
In a recently concluded Lok Sabha election, he took his party from 52 seats to 99 seats in 2024. He failed to get the 10% of seats in 2019 required to become the leader of the opposition. In 2024, he passed the eligibility criteria and became the leader of the opposition. He has been struggling to hold power in the center for nearly 20 years, but his patience to keep the fight going is something that needs to be admired. He has been able to galvanize the opposition parties and create a strong and robust opposition in the name of the ‘India Alliance’ to stop the ruling party (BJP) from forming government. Although he failed in his prime mission to defeat the ruling party, he became successful in becoming the leader of the opposition.
